Over Dining Room Table
The chandelier should be hung at least 30″ to 36″ inches above your table. Keep in mind the height of any decorative accessories that will be placed on the table. For spaces that have ceilings that are over 8 feet, be sure to add 3″ per foot.
Spaces Without A Table
Hanging a chandelier in spaces that do not have a table, the chandelier should be hung at least 7 feet from the floor. Taller ceilings can handle a higher chandelier.
Sized to the Table
The chandelier size should be 1/2 to 3/4 the width of your table. For example, if you have a 48″ table, then the diameter size of your chandelier should be at least 24″ to 36″.
Sized To A Room
Make sure to use this figure as a point of reference when sizing a chandelier for a room. If the space is larger and the ceiling is higher, then you can go bigger.
