Urban Chic Guest Bathroom

Happy New Year!!! We are super excited to kick off our New Year with this guest bathroom remodel.

We designed this guest bathroom to have a chic urban look and feel. Initially, the client wanted to retain the bathtub but update the surrounding tile. After we started the demolition, we convinced the client to move forward with the design of a new glass enclosed shower. As a result, this was the best design decision for easy clean up and mobility for their guests.

During the demolition phase, we removed the alcove to allow for a continuous ceiling and the sides to create a wider and more open shower area. As a result, the shower area allows for a more enjoyable shower.

This guest bathroom is on the small scale of size. It had enough space for just a single sink cabinet. Since we could not extend its footprint beyond its original size, we made it feel larger with new fixtures, flooring, countertop/cabinet, new shower, lighting, and accessories.

We updated the cabinet with shaker style cabinet doors and drawers. Modern knobs and pulls were installed to give it a little pizzaz. A linear pendant light fixture updates the lighting in the space. We installed DalTile Morning Frost quartz countertops to serve as a nice contrast to the cabinet. I love injecting a little whimsy in my projects especially in small areas. If you look closely on the wall in the back of the space, there is an authentic African mask that was handmade and shipped from Ghana. In addition, the new hand towel is actually an architectural piece of art.

The art was a commissioned piece that carries the color palette in the space. The color orange is my client’s favorite color. By this being a small guest bathroom, we did not want to overpower the space with such strong color. The artist used linear pops of the color orange tempered with gray, black, and white.
