My pantry room makeover has been long overdue. In the past 19 years, my pantry room has been updated only twice with this makeover counting as one….LOL! I truly believe that the pantry space is one of the most overlooked spaces in a home while yet being the most utilized space in the home. To be honest with you, this pantry room makeover was somewhat of a forced issue because of its proximity to my laundry room space. Both rooms are adjacent to each other in addition to both being seen from the kitchen. So in keeping with uniformity and aesthetics, I had to makeover my pantry.
My hubby says that I am bold for sharing publicly the “before” picture of our pantry….lol, however, it is the “before” picture of a space that makes the “after” picture a wow factor.
BEFORE
The before pantry wall color was an oops paint color purchased from Home Depot. It was a warm café brown color which gave the space a Starbucks type of feeling. The scratched and marred shelving are a result of 19 years of can goods, spilled spices, coupled with teenager drips and spills. And as you can see, they were in a dire need of a new paint job.
MID-PROGRESS
Like the old saying….”a can of paint is the cheapest way to change the look of a space”… and in this case it really did the trick. I chose the color Languid Blue by Sherwin Williams because it is the same color I used in my laundry room makeover and not to mention that I absolutely love this color. In addition, the color helped to open the space and make it feel light, bright and cheery. I decided to paint the wall space in between the shelving the same white color as the shelving to create an open shelving feel and to make the shelving feel connected.

AFTER….a.k.a. The Reveal
The pantry makeover is completed. I used several types of storage containers such as wicker baskets, clear shoe boxes and storage bins. I put my label maker to work by adding labels to the containers which makes it easy for the hubby to replace items back into their correct containers. Arranging the can goods as you would see them in a grocery store setting makes the space look more organized and less cluttered…not to mention easier when making a grocery shopping list.
