I am very excited to share an update on my kitchen cabinets makeover. I have been on this home re-organization kick since the beginning of the year. It was kicked off with the re-organization of my clothes closet, then to my jewelry armoire and now my kitchen cabinets. I am getting the small things done before I began the big remodel of new countertops and backsplash….which I will share that experience via a new “Haute On Design” webepisode. My inspiration to update my kitchen cabinets came from a magazine picture (below) of an armoire full of gorgeous white dishes.
I instantly knew that this was the look I wanted to incorporate into my kitchen. First thing on the agenda was to get rid of all my mix-match dishes. This was a delight to do because it meant shopping for new dishes. I had to keep the hubby from pulling out dishes he felt were still greatly needed such as his Dallas Cowboy cup and the Sponge Bob plate….LOL! Once all the cabinets were emptied, I rearranged the two cabinets by color. The first cabinet is filled with all of my white everyday usage dishes on the right and entertaining dishes on the left. As you can see, I still have additional space to add more entertaining dishes which I plan on doing very soon.

The next cabinet holds my clear glass and dark color dishes. Whenever I entertain on a more formal basis, I tend to use my clear glass dishware and serving sets. It is something about glass dishware that brings formality and sparkle to any occasion. The dark color dishware and stemware are reserved for more casual dinners and events.
Now that this project is completed, I can scratch this off “my “to do” list. Comment below what projects have you been able to scratch off your “to do” list?
